Abstract

The article considers the modern concepts of the etiology, pathogenesis and treatment of otitis externa. The authors discuss the most frequent causes of the development of diseases of the external ear, and the main nosological forms. The role of individual microorganisms in the genesis of the disease, the relationship of the type of pathogen, its biological properties and the nature of the course of inflammation are described in detail. The authors consider the possibilities of therapy of otitis externa taking into account the expected type of pathogen. The prospects for the use of topical therapy, the place of combined drugs in the treatment of acute and chronic diseases of the external ear are discussed. Authors'own clinical experience of the effective use of a combined preparation containing gentamycin, betamethasone and clotrimazole, in the form of ointment and cream is presented. The authors conclude that the topical therapy of otitis externa with combined preparation containing gentamycin, betamethasone and clotrimazole is possible.
