Аннотация

A review of clinical cases of Thornwaldt's cyst shows a variety of general symptoms occurring under the guise of other nasopharyngeal diseases. Information is provided on the possibility of formation of two-chambered Thornwaldt cysts. In one case, the cyst takes the form of an hourglass with a narrow isthmus. In another case, as a result of a violation of embryogenesis, the cysts are located one after the other, and the deep cyst may be located behind the superficial cyst and nasopharyngeal tissues, adjacent close to the spinal column. This fact underlines the need for caution on the part of the surgeon to prevent penetration into the spinal canal and differential diagnosis of the composition of the second chamber of the cyst with cerebrospinal fluid. The treatment of a two-chamber cyst requires complete emptying of the second chamber, adequate opening of the communicating hole and thorough marsupilization of the outer chamber.
