Abstract

The review presents the history of the development of biofeedback physiology in the researches of the Department of Environmental Physiology of the Institute of Experimental Medicine. The study of the possibilities of biofeedback of neuronal activity became the basis for formulating the principles of biofeedback of slow bioelectrical activity, the state of the motor analyzer, and systemic arterial pressure in animals. Conscious control of muscle activity and electroencephalogram and heart rate parameters using biofeedback was studied with the participation of humans. Healthy subjects participated in the studies. Patients were examined in medical institutions in Saint-Petersburg. Biofeedback is considered as one of the means of psychophysiological support of traditional treatment. It is planned to combine biofeedback methods with artificial intelligence and develop personalized rehabilitation programs based on the analysis of a set of individual physiological data.
