Pecuilarities of management of atopic dermatitis of elderly

Abstract

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a multifactorial genetically determined inflammatory skin disease characterized by itching, chronic relapsing course, age-related features of localization and morphology of lesions. AD affects 2% to 3% of older adults. In the Russian Federation, the incidence is about 80 cases per 100,000 populations and is not registered at all in some regions. Men are affected three times more often than women. About 30% of patients with AD aged 60 years and older report that they have never suffered from it before, and 20% indicate a history of AD in childhood. AD, which occurs for the first time in patients aged 60 years and older without mentioning it in the anamnesis, presents a diagnostic problem.
