详细

Hyperphosphatemia is laboratory syndrome when phosphate in blood serum is higher than 1,45 mmol/l. This condition is often asymptomatic but can cause numerous pathologies. Such as hypercalcemia, the low level of calcitriol, the secondary hyperparathyroidism, non skeletal calcification, hemodynamic diseases and even the increase in morbidity and mortality. This is the cause why hyperphosphatemia must be diagnosed in time. Chronic kidney disease is the most popular cause of hyperphosphatemia. Such causes as hypoparathyroidism, burn injury, metabolic and respiratory acidosis, rhabdomyolysis, tumor lysis syndrome, acromegaly, excess phosphorus intake with food and drugs are rare ethology for hyperphosphatemia.

121 young healthy people, men and women aged 18 to 35 years old were laboratory examined. 12 (9,9%) had asymptomatic hyperphosphatemia and normal kidney function. The aim of our research is to study the etiology of asymptomatic hyperphosphatemia in young men and women. We have found that hyperphosphatemia is associated with regular use of e-cigarettes (p = 0.0002). Further studies should research  the impact of using e-cigarettes on human health in general and, in particular, on phosphorus-calcium metabolism, as well as the consequences of their use.
