Eco-Vector Peer-Reviewer Rewards Program

In line with global practices, academic peer review in Eco-Vector journals is an entirely voluntary initiative by foremost scholars. We appreciate the efforts of all our contributing experts and highly value their feedback. We also recognize and respect their role in assisting our Editorial Board in deciding which submitted articles should be published. At Eco-Vector, we prioritize providing our reviewers with more than a mere opportunity to access the newest data and cutting-edge concepts from leading scientists—months before their peers—at the review stage rather than only after publication. Therefore, we have established a rewards program to acknowledge the individuals who contribute to our publications.

The Reviewer Rewards Program offers the following benefits for publications, including the journals they review:

  • free subscription
  • free publication
  • free review
  • free Fast-Track
  • up to 100% discount on full-text translations.

The journals at Eco-Vector greatly appreciate submissions from reviewers known for their expertise.

Free Subscription

Many Eco-Vector journals offer subscription-based access to cover publishing expenses and thereby focus on their development and distribution.

However, being aware of the most recent research is crucial to ensure objective evaluation of submitted manuscripts.

To facilitate a comprehensive overview of research findings, Eco-Vector offers a free e-subscription to relevant journals for experts who regularly review publications.

The Reviewer Rewards Program grants active reviewers free access to all articles published in the journal (a subscription to the e-version of the journal).

Terms and Conditions:

  • One review: After reviewing each article, the reviewer receives a free subscription valid for one calendar year. Each peer-reviewed article provides access to all subscription articles and journal issues for 12 months.
  • Journal-Specific Access: The subscription only applies for the journal where the review was conducted. For example, a reviewer who reviews an article for journal A will receive free access to subscription content in journal A only.

How to claim:

  1. Contact the Publisher’s subscription department at podpiska@eco-vector.com to request an e-subscription to the journal.
  2. In your email, specify the titles of the reviewed articles (or their IDs) for this journal.

Free Publication

Some Eco-Vector journals offer a paid publication option for articles. These contributions are essential for maintaining the journal’s operations, covering publication expenses, and facilitating its further development. These journals require payment of the Article Publication Charge (APC) as a prerequisite for publishing articles that have been approved by the Editorial Board and the Editor-in-Chief.

Active reviewers may publish their articles (including those where they are co-authors) free of charge.

Terms and Conditions:

  • Four reviews: The right to free publication is granted after completing four article reviews within a calendar year. For every 4 peer-reviewed articles, reviewers get one free publication.
  • Eligible for any Publisher’s journal: Active reviewers may publish their articles free of charge in any Eco-Vector journal. To confirm active reviewer status, submit a request to the journal, including the articles titles (or article IDs) and journal names of the articles reviewed during the year. For example, after reviewing four articles for journal A, you may publish an article in journal B free of charge.

How to claim:

  1. Before submitting your article, sign in to your personal account on the Eco-Vector Scientific Journals website. Then, save a PDF (print) of the reviewing records (the last four pages are sufficient).
  2. When submitting your article, complete the Request Exclusion field, either at the initial or final step. In this field, inform the journal in a free form that you are an active reviewer (specify the journal names) and request a possible free publication.
  3. Make sure to attach the relevant reviewing records to your manuscript submission.
  4. If the article is accepted and the Editor-in-Chief approves the APC waiver, you will receive a notification in your personal account regarding the payment status.

Free Review

Some of the Eco-Vector journals offer article publication free of charge, though a review fee is typically charged. This is crucial for maintaining the journal’s operations and development, covering publication expenses, ensuring the high quality of peer review, reducing bias risks, and mitigating the impact of financial interests in article selection. In these journals, ASC (Article Submission Charge) is a prerequisite for reviewing a manuscript. However, this does not guarantee acceptance by the Editorial Board and the Editor-in-Chief. The Editorial Board and the Editor-in-Chief make the final decision taking into account the results of its double-blind review.

Active reviewers may submit their articles (including those where they are co-authors) with no ASC.

Terms and Conditions:

  • Four reviews: The right to waive ASC is granted after reviewing four articles within a calendar year. For every 4 peer-reviewed articles, the reviewers get one ASC waiver.
  • Eligible for any Publisher’s journal: The ASC waiver can be used for any Eco-Vector journal. To confirm active reviewer status, submit a request to the journal, including the article titles (or article IDs) and journal names of the articles reviewed during the year. For example, after reviewing four articles for journal A, you may get an ASC waiver for an article in journal B.

In this field, inform the journal in a free form that you are an active reviewer (specify the journal names) and request a possible ASC waiver.
  3. Make sure to attach the relevant reviewing records to you manuscript submission.
  4. If the Editor-in-Chief approves the ASC waiver, you will receive a notification in your personal account regarding the payment status.

Free Fast-Track

In all Eco-Vector journals, the Editor-in-Chief makes publication decisions for every article, based on the opinions of the Editorial Board and independent reviewers. Additionally, independent reviewers contribute only on a volunteer basis. Consequently, the Publisher cannot guarantee a certain timeframe for decisions on article publication.

However, in some cases, the authors may need a timely decision on the possibility of publication, which may be as important as the final decision to accept or reject the article.

To address this need, the Publisher offers an expedited review service for articles in most journals. The Editorial Board and the Editor-in-Chief will perform a thorough evaluation of the results, ensuring the same level of independence as the standard volunteer review process.

The Fast-Track option is available to all authors at a fee. Pricing may vary by journal, and these fees support the development of journals and the digital distribution infrastructure.

For active reviewers, the Fast-Track option is free.

Terms and Conditions:

  • Four reviews: The right to the free Fast-Track review is granted after completing four Fast Track reviews within a calendar year. For every 4 peer-reviewed articles, the reviewers get one ASC waiver.
  • Journal-Specific Access: The free Fast-Track offer only applies for the Eco-Vector journal where the review was conducted. To confirm active reviewer status, submit a request to the journal, including the article titles (or article IDs) and journal names of the articles reviewed during the year. For example, after reviewing four articles for journal A, you will receive free Fast-Track access only for journal A.

How to claim:

  1. Before submitting your article, sign in to your personal account on the Eco-Vector Scientific Journals website. Then, save a PDF (print) of the reviewing records (the last four pages are sufficient).
  2. When submitting your article, complete the Request Exclusion field either at the initial or final step. In this field, inform the journal in a free form that you are an active reviewer (specify the journal names) and request a possible free Fast-Track review.
  3. Make sure to attach the relevant reviewing records to the manuscript submission.

The free Fast Track option may be combined with such benefits as Free Publication and Free Review.

Full-Text Translation

All the Publisher’s journals provide the option to publish articles in Russian and English (and, in some journals, in other languages). A publication with translations into several languages will attract a more extensive audience and generate more citations.

It is crucial to recognize that a scientific article must be consistently clear and unambiguous in any language to ensure that the reader does not misinterpret the text as a result of poor translation quality. Therefore, the Publisher ensures the quality of all English-language text in published articles by collaborating with native speakers who are subject matter experts. Consequently, the translation from Russian to English, followed by editing by a native speaker, often poses a significant financial challenge for many author teams.

Active reviewers who participate in the Fast Track expedited review may get their articles translated and edited by native speakers at a discount of up to 100%.

Terms and Conditions:

  • 4 Fast-Track reviews: The reviewer may be eligible for a translation discount after completing four Fast Track reviews within a calendar year. For every four peer-reviewed articles reviewed, the reviewer may get translation of one article.
  • Eligible for any Publisher’s journal: Active reviewers of any Publisher’s journal are eligible for a translation discount. To confirm active reviewer status, submit a request to the journal, including the article titles (or article IDs) and journal names of the articles Fast-Track–reviewed during the year. For example, after completing four Fast-Track reviews for journal A, you may get a translation discount journal B.

How to claim:

  1. Before submitting your article, sign in to your personal account on the Eco-Vector Scientific Journals website. Then, save a PDF (print) of the reviewing records (the last four pages are sufficient).
  2. When submitting your article, complete the Request Exclusion field during the initial or final step of the submission process. In this field, inform the journal in a free form that you are an active Fast-Track reviewer (specify the journal names) and request a possible translation discount of your article if it is accepted.
  3. Make sure to attach the relevant reviewing records to the manuscript.

The translation discount may be combined with such benefits as Free Publication and Free Review.

Career in the Editorial Board

Peer review has a direct impact on the journal’s publication portfolio. It is the reviewers who are responsible for determining the content to be published, the range of subject areas and scientific focuses of the published articles, their quality, and, as a result, the scientific aspect of the journal. The contribution of reviewers to the success of the journal is significant. The more reviews an expert does, the more he/she influences the journal, and the more responsibility he/she assumes for the published content.

At Eco-Vector, we have established our internal policy that guides the invitation of new experts to our Editorial Board based on a thorough evaluation of their results achieved over a 12-month period. The Publisher believes that official participation in the Editorial Board of an international scientific peer-reviewed journal will have a significant positive impact on the scientific career of active scientists and is ready to offer the position to those who have made a significant contribution to the development and quality of the journal content. By joining the Editorial Board, reviewers can access a range of valuable opportunities:

  • voting for article publication
  • writing a personal expert column and publishing short messages and brief reviews
  • supervising the subject section of the journal as an editor (in this case, the reviewer is invited to join the journal’s staff and gets access to manage the editorial and publishing process within his/her subject area).

Please note that the final decision about including an expert in the Editorial Board rests solely with the Editor-in-Chief.

International Reviewer Status

The EVESYST (Eco-Vector Editorial System) which hosts the Eco-Vector Scientific Journals website, is integrated with eLibrary.ru (Russian Science Citation Index, RSCI), Publons.com, and ORCID.org. This provides reviewers the ability to record reviews in their profiles on these databases.

Publons is the largest international database of reviewers in all academic fields. It maintains publicly available profiles of registered reviewers, ensuring that their reviews are recorded and linked to the profiles of the scientific journals for which they were submitted. Reviewers’ contributions are summarized in a rating that shows the publications they have evaluated. The Publons database is widely used by leading publishers worldwide, including The BMJ, The Lancet, and Nature, to search for potential reviewers. By creating a profile on this platform and filling it with reviews, Eco-Vector’s reviewers significantly increase their chances of being invited as experts to other international journals. In addition to expressing gratitude and providing early access to the latest and most relevant information, the most well-known international publishers offer reviewers a variety of benefits, including individual discounts on publishing their own articles and the opportunity to build a career in the journal’s team.

ORCID.org is a global resource supported by major publishers, institutes, and associations. It serves as a comprehensive repository for scientific achievements, including reviews. The ORCID profile serves as a record of contributions to journals and participation in the peer review process, along with a list of publications (with DOIs). The researcher’s profile in ORCID can be integrated with the reviewer’s profile in Publons. This enables access to comprehensive information about an individual’s research activities from a single source.

The integration of review information with the ORCID.org reviewer’s profile is automatic, as long as the reviewer has indicated their ORCID ID in their personal account on the Eco-Vector Scientific Journals website.

An ORCID profile accompanied by details from Publons can contribute significantly to a scholar’s professional development. This profile is freely available and can be used as a live curriculum vitae that is automatically updated. It can be used when applying for international grants, educational programs, and international scientific projects.

eLibrary.ru. The scientist’s profile in the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) contains detailed information concerning the number of reviews and journals where the scholar has provided expert review. This information is publicly available and can potentially attract significant interest. Eco-Vector provides the RSCI with comprehensive information related to the reviews, including details about each published article. We are committed to maintaining strict confidentiality, ensuring that the reviewers’ identities and the content of their reviews remain undisclosed. However, we recognize and value the crucial role that reviewers play in the development of scientific publications.

The integration of review information with the reviewer’s profile on eLibrary.ru (RSCI) is automatic after the publication of articles reviewed, provided that the reviewer has indicated their eLibrary SPIN in their personal account on the Eco-Vector Scientific Journals website.
