Deficit of social cognition in schizophrenia: research and perspectives

Abstract

The review observed traditional and modern approaches to this subject. The author demonstrated that deficits of social cognition were the subject of interest in many research in patients with schizophrenia. Deficits of social cognition have been found in patients with schizophrenia and these deficits may in fact be central and be relatively stable across the course of the illness. The author demonstrated some types and models of deficits of social cognition, and describe them lake a specific pattern in schizophrenia. Specificity and stability of deficits of social cognition in schizophrenia, as well as their relation to social functional outcome, is sure to have far-reaching implications for the treatment and rehabilitation of people with the disorder. It is the biggest perspectives of this subject
