Abstract

Oxygen compounds of phosphorus — phosphates — are widespread in nature. These minerals are diverse not only in composition, but also in structure, depending on what the high-loading phosphorus tetrahedra are combined with: other tetrahedra (with lower valence), with octahedra of cations of small and medium size, or with polyhedra of large cations. Of course, there are also minerals with heteropolyhedral structures containing all these types of polyhedra. We have already told in “Priroda” about phosphates with tetrahedra structures and structures with participation of octahedra. This fairy tale considers phosphate minerals based on large cations.
