Аннотация
Статья представляет первое комплексное исследование визитов королевы Елизаветы I Английской к дворянам-католикам на всем протяжении ее царствования (1558–1603). Было выявлено большее количество визитов к католикам, нежели это считалось ранее. Просопографическое исследование принимавших английскую королеву католиков показало, что к их числу относились католики-конформисты, принадлежавшие к придворным клиентелам, преимущественно – королевских фаворитов Лестера и Эссекса, или же государственного секретаря Сесила. Визиты королевы могли иметь разные последствия: от ареста до награждения рыцарским званием, а решение приехать в графства со значительным католическим населением всегда диктовалось комбинацией внутри- и внешнеполитических обстоятельств. Приемы, устроенные католиками Елизавете I, были важным средством поддержания диалога между королевой и ее католическими подданными и способом их интеграции в политическую элиту страны.
