Abstract

Acute kidney injury (AKI) becomes an increasingly prevalent condition worldwide. The devastating effects of AKI on population health status will be able to be prevented, by increasing the awareness of this and by elaborating guidelines for the prevention, early recognition, and management of this pathology. The role of alternative biomarkers for AKI has not yet been defined.
