The innate immunity factors involved in the development of complications, such as habitual miscarriage, fetal growth restriction, and intrauterine infection, are considered. Their role in the formation of local defense and their interaction with the normal vaginal microflora are covered. An understanding of the role of pathophysiological mechanisms implicated in a local immune response in the development of intrauterine infection will be able to improve diagnostic methods and to timely apply a package of preventive measures to reduce obstetric complications.
