Abstract
Osteoporosis (OP) is one of the major diseases concurrent with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD); it is frequently undiagnosed and associated with poor health and prognosis. The risk factors and special features of osteopenic syndrome are analyzed in patients with COPD. The high risk of fractures due to the wide spread of risk factors for OP and to a significant reduction in bone mineral density in patients with COPD necessitates the timely diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of osteopenia.
