Abstract

The purposeful examination using 24-hour Holter blood pressure (BP) monitoring reveals occult hypertension in patients with implanted pacemakers (PM) in cases of cardiac arrhythmias and a history of hypertension. As compared with patients without PM, occult hypertension is characterized by a lower daytime BP load, a predominance of daily non-dipper and night-peaker profiles, and a high rate of target organ lesions.
