KEY ISSUES IN THE TREATMENT OF IRON DEFICIENCY ANEMIA

Abstract

The paper considers the tactics of pathogenetic therapy with iron preparations in patients with iron deficiency anemia (IDA), among other issues, the route of administration, the choice of the optimal iron drug in term of a particular situation, as well as the need for maintenance therapy and side effects during treatment. It discusses the management of patients with IDA refractory to iron treatment, the causes and mechanisms of treatment refractoriness, and methods of correction.
