THE POSITIVE ROLE OF OBESITY IN THE CLINICAL PRESENTATION OF VISCERAL DISEASES
Abstract
The paper analyzes an update on the impact of obesity on mortality rates in cardiovascular and respiratory diseases and diabetes mellitus. It considers the possible causes of an obesity paradox and puts forth a theory of the particular role of the muscular system.

EXTENSION OF THERAPEUTIC POSSIBILITIES IN STABLE CORONARY HEART DISEASE
Abstract
This observation demonstrates an association between heart rate and the occurrence of myocardial ischemia. The paper discusses problems in heart rate-reducing therapy for stable angina pectoris and the advantages of combination therapy with β-adrenoblockers and the If-channel inhibitor Coraxan.

EFFECT OF TRIMETAZIDINE ON QT INTERVAL DURATION AND DISPERSION IN PATIENTS WITH PERSISTENT ATRIAL FIBRILLATION
Abstract
The effect of trimetazidine on the electric systole of the left ventricle was investigated in patients with coronary heart disease and persistent atrial fibrillation. It is shown that there is significantly reduced QT dispersion when trimetazidine is added to antiarrhythmic therapy.

EFFICACY OF LISINOPRIL IN CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE
Abstract
The paper considers the results of controlled clinical trials evaluating the efficacy of lisinopril in the prevention of cardiovascular and renal outcomes in patients with arterial hypertension, including those with chronic kidney disease, as well as the nephroprotective properties of the drug in patients with diabetes mellitus and nondiabetic nephropathies.

EFFECT OF TRIMETAZIDINE IN A ROSUVASTATIN-BISOPROLOL COMBINATION ON BLOOD LEVELS OF C-REACTIVE PROTEIN AND GLUCOSE IN PATIENTS WITH CORONARY HEART DISEASE
Abstract
This controlled pilot study showed that just 2 weeks after therapy with bisoprolol and rozuvastatine, the trimetazidine (Predizine)-treated patients with stable angina pectoris without diabetes mellitus had lower blood glucose and C-reactive protein levels and fewer angina attacks and needed less additional use of nitroglycerin and amlodipine.

EFFECT OF QUDESAN ON CYTOCHROME P450 3A4: ELECTROCHEMICAL STUDY
Abstract
Electrochemical analysis has shown that due to its antioxidant effect, Qudesan is able to affect drug metabolism during combination therapy by inducing the activity of cytochrome P450 3A4. It may have widespread use in patients with cardiovascular diseases.

DEVELOPMENT OF COGNITIVE IMPAIRMENTS IN DIABETIC PATIENTS AFTER PREVIOUS ISCHEMIC STROKE
Abstract
Diabetes mellitus (DM) that has reached epidemic proportions in the past decade serves as one of the major risk factors of stroke, ischemic stroke in particular. The main cause of death in type 2 DM is vascular (including cerebrovascular) complications. Due to cognitive deficit occurring in DM, the patients are a dementia risk group. The use of Noojerone may slow down the progression of neuro-degenerative diseases and accelerate speech recovery.

THERAPY FOR CARDIONEUROSIS (NEUROCIRCULATORY DYSTONIA) IN THE GENERAL MEDICAL NETWORK
Abstract
The clinical picture of cardioneurosis is heterogeneous and encompasses the symptoms of anxiety/phobia, senestalgia, and depressive disorders. The prescriptions from general practitioners who most commonly follow up this category of patients are usually limited by recommendations for the use of tranquilizers. The current selective melatoninergic antidepressant Valdoxan has demonstrated high efficacy and good tolerance in patients with cardioneurosis (autonomic vascular dystonia).

CYTOKINE STATUS IN CORONARY HEART DISEASE PATIENTS WITH METABOLIC SYNDROME AND POSSIBILITIES OF ITS CORRECTION
Abstract
Current conventional drug therapy for coronary heart disease (CHD) has no sufficient impact on systemic subclinical inflammation. The results of a trial showing that dalargin and low-intensity laser radiation may lower the elaboration of proinflammatory cytokines in patients with CHD and metabolic syndrome are given.

MYOCARDIAL FUNCTIONAL STATUS AND NATRIURETIC PROPEPTIDE LEVELS IN ACROMEGALY AT DIFFERENT DISEASE STAGES
Abstract
The paper gives the data of echocardiography and the results of an investigation of natriuretic propeptide levels in 46 patients with acromegaly in its active and remission stages. Analysis has revealed the disadaptative pattern of left ventricular remodeling, diastolic dysfunction, and a significant increase in pro-BNP levels in patients with acromegaly irrespective of disease stage.
