Abstract

The paper deals with the 100th anniversary of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Faculty of Therapeutics, Russian State Medical University, which is one of the oldest departments in our country. It gives biographic information on the founders of the department, the leading Russian obstetricians-gynecologists, who headed the latter in different years: N. I. Pobedinky, I. L. Braude, I. F. Zhordania, L. S. Persianinov, G. M. Savelyeva, and other. It shows the basic areas of researches and developments to be under way by the researchers of the department.
