Abstract

We discuss the origins and clinical significance of Cruveilhier souffle - one of the signs of portal hypertension. Auscultation of Cruveilhier souffle can be used in clinical diagnosis of cirrhosis, remain valid in light of the increasing prevalence of this disease. Life journey of Jean Criuvelle - French clinicist and pathologist who have first described this symptom - is presented.
