EFFECTIVENESS OF TRANSDERMAL FORMULATIONS OF NONSTEROID ANTIINFLAMMATORY DRUGS IN PATIENTS WITH MYOFASCIAL PAIN SYNDROME OF FACE

Abstract

The problem of treatment of myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) is important in neurological practice. MPS is characterized by persistence and duration, which lead to development of psycho-emotional disorders and reduced quality of life. The use of tablet and injection forms of various non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) is a leading treatment modality for MPS. Currently, however, transdermal forms of NSAIDs are widely used for direct action on the local pain. One of the most studied drugs in this group is Nurofen gel. The article presents the results of examination of potentials for use of this drug in 39 patients with MPS of face.
