Abstract
The article considers the complex issues of noncompliance in the treatment of chronic mental illness with an emphasis on the patient's motivation and behavioral aspects. The continuum of behavioral models of treatment compliance - from full failure to abuse - is discussed. The recommendations for overcoming of noncompliance during motivational therapy are presented.
