Resumo

Article is devoted to a problem of cognitive impairment against the background of arterial hypertension, and potentials for the use of antihypertensive therapy for their correction. Data of own research on the effect of amlodipine, third generation dihydropyridine calcium antagonist, on level of blood pressure and cognitive functions at elderly patients with an 1 degree arterial hypertension are presented. It is shown that according data both on routine blood pressure measurements and 24-hour blood pressure monitoring, this drug has high anti-hypertensive effect. The results of study indicate that amlodipine improves a series of the parameters of cognitive functions.
