Abstract

Emergency contraception is the easy, safe, most inexpensive, high effective, without contraindications, not requiring expensive examination, and hence most accessible method of contraception. This is still unused reserve for the reduction of unwanted pregnancies and abortions in Russia. The method is included in the list of essential drugs of the World Health Organization; therefore, this is an occasion for generalization of its use in centralized procurement of reproductive health programs in the Russian regions, as well as at the federal level.
