Abstract

The article discusses current approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of acute respiratory viral infections and flu in pregnant women. Etiopathogenesis and clinical manifestation of these diseases are described; potentials for the use of real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in the diagnosis of acute respiratory viral infections, as well as practical guidelines for the management of pregnancy and labour in women with acute respiratory viral infections and flu are discussed. In most cases, PCR has allowed to assign the most effective antiviral therapy in the first 24-48 hours after the onset of the disease.
