Abstract

Physiological changes during pregnancy can alter the course of bronchial asthma - mainly to the more severe disease. Uncontrolled course of the disease leads to a higher risk of complications during pregnancy (pre-eclampsia, bleeding, malnutrition and LBW, neonatal hypoxia, intrauterine infection, etc.). Pregnancy is not contraindication to adequate pharmacotherapy of bronchial asthma; the choice of drugs should be based on their potential safety for the fetus.
