Abstract

Disorders of sleep of and wakefulness are one of the important problems in the treatment of patients with Parkinson's disease. They can be caused by increased symptoms of Parkinson's disease in the evening and at night, use of antiparkinsonian agents, anxiety, depression, or use of some antidepressants, sudden withdrawal from benzodiazepines and other sedatives. In addition, a sleep disorders can be associated with the spread of the process of neurodegeneration on the various structures of the brain stem. Understanding the causes of sleep disorders allows to successfully resolve this problem.
