Аннотация
Эстрогены участвуют в развитии структур мозга, определяющих женское поведение. Они оказывают геномные и негеномные эффекты на мозг, связываясь с эстрогеновыми рецепторами. Нейронные и глиальные клетки содержат фермент ароматазу для локального синтеза эстрогенов. В статье суммированы защитные эффекты эстрогенов при дегенеративных процессах центральной нервной системы (ЦНС). Представлены данные о применении эстрогенов при шизофрении, мигрени и других патологических процессах в ЦНС.
