The article carries the typological analysis of modern applied psychological investigations of giftedness. The authors determine the controversial concepts of the phenomenon of giftedness and the regularities in its development. The main directions in practical work with the gifted are outlined. The notion of developmental environment was specified while dealing with the gifted.
