Abstract

The methods most popular in the Russian Federation for the determination of benzo(a)pyrene in soils are considered and the results of interlaboratory experiments with their use are presented. The data obtained showed the insufficient efficiency of the procedures for extracting benzo(a)pyrene from the sample.

One of the reasons for the underestimation of the results may be the loss of benzo(a)pyrene during sample preparation. To establish the correction factor, laboratories need matrix reference materials that are not available on the domestic market. The conducted interlaboratory experiment made it possible to certify a sample that can be used for intralaboratory control, assessment of the correctness of the analyzes and improvement of analysis procedures.
