Hypothyroidism: initiation of replacement therapy

Abstract

Primary hypothyroidism is one of the most common endocrine diseases. Treatment of symptomatic hypothyroidism involves the appointment of replacement monotherapy with levothyroxine that maintains the disease compensation. The article discusses the issue of initiation of replacement therapy of hypothyroidism for different groups of patients.
