Abstract
Previously unknown facts of the biography of Maria Kapitonovna Petrova, a student and colleague of the academician I. P. Pavlov, are presented. The facts shedding light on her childhood and adolescence, biographical information about her parents, brothers and sisters are presented. The obtained data allow to interpret in a new way her decision to get a higher education, reveal the roots of her attachment to I. P. Pavlov, as well as the character traits that allowed the heroine of the article to become an outstanding research scientist, and not just a mother of a family.
