The Pediatrics Academy on the century border

The paper expounds history of creation and development of research at the only in Russia specialized School for training paediatricians: the St. Petersburg Pediatrics Medical Academy. The special social significance of children's health protection has been the reason for organising exclusive institutions called for training personnel, investigation into the causes of children’s morbidity and mortality, determining the ways of these parameters diminution, and for developing a scientific basis for organization of therapeutic-prophylactic aid rendered to children. The work collective of the Academy's fellow-scientists has achieved a considerable success, having been born on 7 January 1925 as the Leningrad Research-Practical Institute of Motherhood and Childhood Protection.
