Abstract

This review presents an analysis of the textbook "Fundamentals of Personalized Biomedicine and Biopharmacy," edited by A.I. Tyukavin and S.V. Suchkov, published in 2025. The publication is noted for its exceptional timeliness, driven by the limitations of traditional approaches to treating chronic diseases and the imperative for a shift towards personalized and precision medicine (PPM). Within the context of the reviewed textbook, particular emphasis is placed on the in-depth exploration of the establishment and progressive development of biomedicine, grounded in the synergy of molecular biology methodologies, "omics" technologies, and bioinformatics. This enables the formation of biomedicine as a platform for precision diagnostics, the identification of informative biomarkers, and the creation of targeted therapeutics at the preclinical stage. A significant aspect is the focus on the emergence of biopharmacy as a knowledge-intensive field oriented towards the development and scaling-up of complex bioactive molecules and tissue-engineering solutions, as well as the production of innovative diagnostic, therapeutic, and theranostic agents. Overall, the textbook systematically covers key achievements in biomedicine and biopharmacy, highlighting "omics" resources as the biotechnological basis for a new generation of therapeutics and diagnostics, and outlining promising directions in personalized healthcare.
