Melatonin participates in organism protection against infection

Abstract

In this review, the recent experimental and clinical data about protective effects of melatonin produced by pineal gland and peripheral cells, against different kind of infections are observed. The cellular and systemic mechanisms of its protective activity and therapeutic possibilities are also discussed.
