Abstract
Purpose of the study: to identify the relationship between recurrent aphthous stomatitis and various comorbid pathologies using the example of patients in an infectious diseases hospital.
Materials and methods. A retrospective statistical analysis was conducted of registered cases of chronic recurrent aphthous stomatitis, as a concomitant disease, in patients with various infectious diseases hospitalized at the St. Petersburg State Budgetary Healthcare Institution “Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital named after S.P. Botkin (St. Petersburg State Budgetary Healthcare Institution “Botkin Hospital”) for the period from January 2022 to December 2023.
Results. The age and sex characteristics of patients, the number of bed days and the relationship of recurrent aphthous stomatitis with comorbid infectious and non-infectious pathology were analyzed. A relationship has been identified between recurrent aphthous stomatitis and infectious diseases, such as HIV infection, acute respiratory infection of the upper respiratory tract, acute tonsillitis and other diseases accompanied by acute respiratory failure.
Conclusion. The data obtained indicate the influence of infectious pathology as a trigger factor causing the relapse of chronic aphthous stomatitis and confirm the polyetiological nature of the disease.
