A CASE OF CLINICAL COURSE OF FOODS BOTULISM

Abstract

Botulism is an extremely dangerous infectious disease. Despite the relatively rare cases of botulism, the disease does not lose its relevance due to diagnostic difficulties, leading to late diagnosis and frequent fatal outcomes.

Using the example of a patient at the St. Petersburg State Budgetary Healthcare Institution “Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital named after S.P. Botkin, who was hospitalized in the intensive care unit in 2023 (2024), reviewed a clinical case of botulism, clearly demonstrating all the complexities of clinical and laboratory diagnosis and treatment of this disease.

The importance of increasing the alertness of doctors of all specialties regarding botulism, as well as raising people's awareness and conducting health education work, especially in the context of primary outpatient care, is emphasized.
