Inge-Vechtomov S.G.

Abstract

М.Е. Lobashev and The New Chapters in the Science - Biology, Physiology and Genetics of Conditioned Reflex

Lopatina N.G.

Abstract

This article covers the ten-year period (1949-1959) of M.E. Lobashev work in the Pavlov Institute of Physiology. During this time he realized his ideas about biological adaptive role of conditioned reflex. According to Lobashev, conditioned reflex is the universal mechanism of interaction between the organism and environment, regulating the realization of genetic information, promoting active adaptation to habitat in ontogenesis and providing the functional continuity between generations ("signal inheritance").

Acoustic Communication and Sexual Behaviour of Insects

Ilyina E.L., Popov A.V.

Abstract

Acoustic communication functions in different taxons of insects are discussed. Peculiarities of Drosophila melanogaster acoustic system are under special interest. Different acoustic signal types are described. Senescence changes in love song and neurophysiology aspects of courtship behavior are examined.

Matroclinous Inheritance of Behavioral Traits: Possible Mechanisms

Kamyshev N.G., Bragina J.V., Besedina N.G., Kamysheva E.A., Timofeeva E.A., Ponomarenko V.V.

Abstract

Transmission of behavioral traits from mother to hybrids of first generation, revealed in researches performed under guidance of M.E. Lobashev and V.V. Ponomarenko since the middle of last century, is clearly adaptive and seems to be a phenomenon of general significance in biology. From the contemporary positions it may be explained by various genetic processes: sex-linked inheritance, cytoplasmic inheritance, maternal effect of nuclear genes, genomic imprinting. The review considers all of them with most attention to possible mechanisms of the late maternal effect of nuclear genes.

Genetic Control of Predisposition for Suicide

Tikhodeyev O.N.

Abstract

From multiple twin studies, it is known that predisposition for suicide significantly depends on the genotype, approximately for 30-50 %. Many laboratories search for the genes controlling this trait. In the present article, the obtained data are briefly reviewed. Suicidal behavior strongly associates with at least two polymorphisms: with short promoter of the SLC6a4 gene and 158Met haplotype of the CoMT gene. Moreover, the data observed lead to proposition that some manifestations of suicidal behavior are quite autonomous and therefore should be analyzed as separate traits. among them are completed suicide and its various simulations (non-lethal attempts), violent and non-violent forms of suicidal behaviour, as well as single and multiple attempts. otherwise, when suicidal behavior is analyzed in general, association approach is usually vain.

Some genetic approaches to psychophysiologic studies in animals and man

Daev E.V.

Abstract

Some of the psychophysiological and psychogenetic research problems are reviewed in the article. Approaches to their resolving with the help of modern genetic methods are analysed. The important role of model objects in genetics of behavior is shown by several examples. Data are given about genetic mechanisms of some psychic diseases in human.
