Optional Open Access

Immediate open access to articles in subscription journals

In brief

Eco-Vector Publishing House journals adhere to a hybrid distribution model.

This means that journals are distributed by subscription in print and electronic form. At the same time, authors have the opportunity to make their articles publicly available (Open Access, OA — in accordance with the Budapest Open Access Initiative) immediately after publication.

General information about Open Access

Publishing articles on the Internet in Open Access mode contributes to the most effective dissemination of scientific data in the global professional community (you can read more about the effect of Open Access on data dissemination in WIKI).

Articles published in Open Access mode will be distributed under the terms of a free CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license without an embargo period (see the “Deferred Open Access” section on the website of the relevant journal) or any other restrictions.

Payment for open access to an article is available to authors only after the editor-in-chief has decided to publish the article in the journal. Thus, payment for open access publication does not affect the decision to publish.

If the authors do not consider open access publication possible, the article may be published in subscription mode (during the embargo period, it will only be available to subscribers on the publisher's website).

Articles published in Open Access format will be available without an embargo period or any other restrictions to any visitor to the journal's website immediately upon publication.

What does Open Access offer?

  • Immediate and free access: the article becomes free to read, download, and distribute by all users from the moment of publication.
  • Wide visibility and impact: OA articles often receive more views, citations, and attention in academic and professional circles.
Creative Commons license (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0): after publication, the article will be distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International license, which allows any reader to freely read, copy, and distribute it on any medium and in any format, provided that the authorship and license are indicated, as well as any changes, if any. Readers may do so in any reasonable manner, but remain prohibited from using these articles for commercial purposes, including distributing them even in modified form (as well as derivative works based on them).
  • Compliance with grantor requirements: Many public and private foundations require the mandatory publication of the results of funded research in open access, so choosing the OA option helps to meet these conditions.

Thus, if authors are interested in immediate and free access to their article for all readers around the world, they can order the Open Access publication service from the publisher.

Cost and process

  • Open Access Publication Charge (OAPC): since it is impossible to obtain funds from readers for access to content distributed in OA mode, the publisher's costs for reviewing, editing, production, hosting, and indexing are covered by a fee charged to the author or their institution for publishing the article in open access.
  • OAPC cost: 700 USD per article.
  • When to pay: OAPC can only be paid after the article has been officially accepted for publication. The act of submitting an article for review or the review process itself is free for authors.

Optional Open Access activation procedure

  1. When submitting a manuscript via the electronic editorial office, authors can indicate that they are interested in publishing the article in Open Access mode.
  2. After the article is accepted for publication, the editorial office will send the authors an official notification and an offer to activate the Optional Open Access service.
  3. The authors will have a choice: to pay for the Open Access publication service online (a direct link to the payment will be available in the personal account of the author's representative) or by signing a contract. The contract can be signed with either an individual or a legal entity.
  4. After confirmation of payment, your article will be published in one of the journal's issues in Open Access mode and with a CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 distribution license.

The Open Access fee is charged to the authors, but the payer (or party to the agreement) may be an employer, a foundation, a sponsor, an advertiser, or an independent individual.

Payment options

  • Online via the “Pay for open access” link in the personal account of the representative of the group of authors (upon payment, the authors join the offer agreement to open access to their article accepted for publication in the journal).
  • By agreement with an individual. The agreement is concluded in printed form and paid for by any convenient method (bank transfer, online banking, etc.).
  • By agreement with a legal entity. The agreement is concluded in printed form and paid for by invoice.

Self-archiving (Green Open Access)

Regardless of the publication and distribution model chosen by the authors, the publisher supports a policy of free self-archiving (Green Open Access).

  • Authors have the right to post drafts of their articles (pre-prints, up to the version accepted for publication) in institutional repositories and on personal websites, in specialized repositories for preprints.
  • Draft versions of articles may be posted at any time, even after the article has been officially published in the journal, but with a mandatory bibliographic reference to the version published in the journal, including the DOI.
  • The final version of the article (PDF in the publisher's layout) cannot be posted in open access unless the Optional Open Access option has been selected and paid for.

You can read more about the self-archiving policy on the website of your chosen journal in the “editorial policy” section.
