Sanatorium-resort treatment of children: role in strengthening the health of the nation and development trends

Abstract

The article is devoted to assessing the current state of children’s balneology as an independent area of sanatorium and resort business. Taking into account the leading role of domestic children’s balneology practice, the prospects for its development are determined. Modern scientifically based data on the use of natural physical factors (climate, mineral waters, therapeutic mud), as well as other non-drug methods (physiotherapy, kinesiotherapy, manual therapy, etc.) for various pathological conditions and as a means of prevention are presented. The creation of «children’s» resorts, sanatorium-resort camps and other original organizational forms of assistance to children is emphasized as historically justified. The special role of the nurse in the conditions of children’s sanatorium and resort services and the need for appropriate professional training are highlighted.
