The course of COVID-19 associated with HIV infection

Abstract

Currently, the COVID-19 pandemic is occurring at the same time as the widespread spread of HIV infection, leading to cases of a combination of two deadly diseases. Damage to the immune system, comorbidity, similarity of several clinical symptoms, difficulties in choosing adequate therapy make it difficult to manage such patients. A clinical case of the course of COVID-19 in an HIV-infected patient is presented, which showed that the combination of COVID-19 and HIV infection at the stage of secondary diseases was dominated by the clinic of opportunistic infections. The severity of the condition was because of the course of damage to the lungs and brain of mixed etiology (tuberculosis, toxoplasmosis, cytomegalovirus infection, Epstein-Barr virus). secondary diseases and elimination of SARS-CoV-2.
