Abstract

The aim of the study was to evaluate the clinical efficacy of pulsed radiofrequency nerve ablation in the treatment of phantom pain in patients with traumatic limb avulsion. The treatment of phantom pains with a new method – pulsed radiofrequency ablation of nerves (Pulsed radiofrequency – PRF) is proposed. On a clinical example (a patient, 36 years old, was treated at the P.V.Mandryka Central Military Clinical Hospital with phantom pain syndrome in an amputated lower limb: 8–9 points on a visual analogue scale, not relieved by non-opioid analgesics), high clinical effectiveness of the method. After the PRF procedure, a decrease in pain syndrome to 2–3 points was noted during a month of observation.
