Abstract
The first published chapter from the book of memoirs of a veteran of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, retired medical colonel Nikolai Atroshkin (born in 1923), is presented. In the army, a graduate of the Leningrad Military Medical School, military medical assistant N.T.Atroshkin was in May 1942, then participated in the battle on the Kursk Bulge, freed the Poltava region from the Nazis, forced the Dnieper to be seriously wounded. He began to write his memoirs in the period of the 1980s. The central theme for the author remains front-line medicine with all its nuances. Memoirs do not leave a bitter residue on the reader, for in the person of the author is a person with a kind heart and a heightened sense of justice.
