A clinical case of pulmonary embolism occurring as a community - acquired pneumonia in a conscript soldier

Abstract

The article presents a clinical case of pulmonary embolism in a conscripted 23 - year - old soldier with a congenital anomaly of the hemostasis system due to polymorphism of the folate cycle genes PAI-1 (4G/4G homozygote), ITGA2 (T/T homozygote), which has not been initially diagnosed during the outbreak of community - acquired pneumonia. Gram - negative infection occurred, with the development of septicopyemia, multiple organ failure, and, despite intensive care, a lethal outcome occurred.
