The review deals with the main issues covered in the monograph by N.B. Sredinskaya: study and description of the Sacrati family archive and the significance of this documentary collection for the history of medieval Ferrara, the early history of the Sacrati family, analysis of the notarial acts from this archive in terms of the influence of classical Roman law on them. Some topics from the history of the notary are also touched upon. The work under review continues the long tradition that has developed around the Western European part of the N.P. Lihachev, on the study of the act material from the Italian archives, and gives an exhaustive idea of the composition of the studied collection, the context of its origin, as well as its importance for the study of the history of the influential Ferrara clan Sacrati. N.B. Sredinskaya carried out a complex analysis of the legal component of property relations, reflected in the acts of Sakrati, which is very important for the modern historical and legal studies. At the same time, in order to esteem the actual role of the heritage of Roman law in the medieval act material, it would be more correct to correlate their formulas with texts that interpret ius commune, rather than with the Digests.
