Abstract

Atrophic gastritis is an indication for compulsory eradication therapy for H. pylori, which should be considered as a means of active prophylaxis of gastric cancer. The paper discusses outcomes 18 months after successful therapy against Helicobacter pylori. A histological study indicated that regression of atrophy was not achieved and no progression of atrophy and intestinal metaplasia was seen. Gastrin 17 levels and pensinogen Vll ratio significantly increased as compared with these in the control group (receiving no eradication therapy).
