MALNUTRITION IN PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC RENAL FAILURE: EARLY DIAGNOSIS, RISK FACTORS FOR THEIR DEVELOPMENT

Milovanov Y., Mylnikov A., Aleksandrova I., Milovanova L.

Abstract

The paper gives the results of estimating the capabilities of anthropometric methods and bioimpedance analysis (BIA) in the early diagnosis of malnutrition in patients with chronic renal failure. In patients with edema, BIA is shown to be of more informative value in estimating muscle and fat masses, the integral indices of malnutrition, than anthropometric measurements. The most significant factors for malnutrition and the principles of its prevention are defined in these patients.

PHARMACOLOGY FOR CARDIAC ARRHYTHMIAS

Kotlyarov A., Karyakina T., Dmitrieva O.

Abstract

The paper presents the results of investigating the efficiency of long-term use of the antiarrhythmic Allapinine in patients with tachy-bradyarrhythmias. Allapinine is shown to be a safe agent in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, to significantly decline the number of paroxysms of supraventricular and ventricular tachycardias, and to fail to worsen inotropic cardiac function in patients with chronic heart failure.

THE POTENTIAL USE OF COMPLEX OF PROBIOTIC STRAIN AND MICROELEMENTS IN PRACTICE DERMATOVENEROLOGIST

Kasihina E.

Abstract

Skin is the largest organ of the body and is constantly exposed to physical, chemical, bacterial and fungal challenges. It is well known that probiotics are helpful for specific disorders and different clinical studies have indicated that probiotics have special effects in cutaneous apparatus directly or indirectly which can be considerable from versatile aspects. Probiotic bacteriotherapy and trace elements can have great potentials in preventing and treating the skin diseases including eczema, atopic dermatitis, acne, allergic inflammation or in skin hypersensitivity, UV-induced skin damage, wound protection and cosmetic products. The paper presents a review of the clinical effectiveness of Lactobacillus casei rhamnosus 35-based probiotic in conjunction with zinc and selenium in dermatovenereology.

METABOLIC THERAPY FOR STABLE ANGINA PECTORIS UNDER THE PRESENT-DAY CONDITIONS: ARE THERE PROSPECTS?

Melnik M.

Abstract

Coronary heart disease holds leading positions in the structure of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality despite the introduction of myocardial revascularization procedures into clinical practice and the possibilities of standard antianginal therapy. When viewed in these perspectives, it is expedient to assess the role of pharmacological modulation of myocardial metabolic processes in the treatment of patients with stable angina pectoris.

ROLE OF SECONDARY HYPERPARATHYROIDISM IN THE PATHOGENESIS OF IMMUNODEFFICIENCY IN CHRONIC RENAL FAILURE PATIENTS ON HEMODIALYSIS

Osikov M., Gizinger O., Cherepanov D.

Abstract

The presence and pattern of a relationship between parathyroid hormone (PTH), phosphorus and calcium hemostatic parameters, and lymphocyte death were studied in chronic renal failure (CRF) patients on hemodialysis. The relationship between lymphocytopenia in CRF patients and activation of lymphocyte death due to necrosis and apoptosis was laboratorily verified. The higher lymphocyte count in blood flow with the signs of necrosis and apoptosis were proven to increase with the higher plasma concentrations of PTH and phosphates and with the lower levels of total calcium.

NEW APPROACHES TO MANAGING PATIENTS WITH MODERATE COGNITIVE IMPAIRMENT IN CHRONIC BRAIN ISCHEMIA

Boiko A., Lebedeva A., Shchukin I., Burd S., Soldatov M., Shikhkerimov R., Ismailov A., Petrov S., Basgerova K.

Abstract

The paper considers the main issues associated with the etiology, pathogenesis, clinical presentation, diagnosis, and approaches to therapy for moderate cognitive impairment (MCI) in patients with chronic brain ischemia (CBI). Emotional disorders and asthenia are shown to have a significant impact on quality of life (QL) in patients with CBI and MCI. The combined nootropic agent Thiocetam has been tested for its effect on the dynamics of MCI, asthenia, anxiety/depression, neurological symptoms, and QL in patients with CBI and observed to have therapeutic activity against the above factors.

PHONATION IN THE THERAPY OF PATIENTS WITH VISCERAL DISEASES

Radchenko V., Loginov G., Kovelenov A., Fedorov V., Tsurtsumia D.

Abstract

Biological tissue microvibrations resulting from myocyte contractility participate in the transport of substances and cells along the tissues and capillaries and directly affect all immune, regenerative, and metabolic processes. The resources of muscle cells are limited and the tissues always experience greater or lesser microvibration deficit. Phonation compensation for this deficit considerably improves treatment results and quality of life in patients with visceral diseases.

MORPHOMETRIC CHANGES IN LANGERHANS ISLETS DURING NEUROLEPTIC THERAPY

Volkov V.

Abstract

It has been established that longer-term antipsychotic therapy increases morphological changes in the endocrine hypofunction of Langerhans islets. These changes are close to those seen in diabetes mellitus; therefore its development cannot be ruled out in mentally ill patients taking neuroleptics (because of the side insulotoxic effect of these drugs).

ARREST OF SEXUAL DEVELOPMENT IN ADOLESCENT MALES: MECHANISMS AND ETIOLOGICAL DIAGNOSIS

Verbitskaya O., Kozhin A., Popova V., Daurbekova M.

Abstract

The paper considers the role of trace elements in the etiology and pathogenesis of arrested sexual functional development (ASFD) in adolescents. Attention is drawn to the need to determine the concentration ratio of essential to toxic chemical elements affecting the development of reproductive function. Elevated leptin levels have been found to play a role in the occurrence of ASFD in obese children. A draft scheme is proposed for its etiological diagnosis in boys and correction. Antioxidant trace elements have been substantiated to be of importance for the rehabilitative therapy of ASFD.
