ANTI-AGING MEDICINE IS A TREND IN MODERN RUSSIAN MEDICINE
Abstract
The paper sets forth the main current views of a new area, such as anti-aging medicine, the implementation of effective individual programs for preventing the development and progression of chronic diseases and age-related conditions. It presents the used innovative diagnostic methods, as well as prevention and treatment programs based on peptidergic regulation.

LOWER EXTREMITY DEEP VEIN THROMBOSES IN ELDERLY AND SENILE PATIENTS
Abstract
The specific features of the pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of lower extremity deep vein thrombosis were investigated in patients from old age groups. The medical scientific literature over 2000-2015 was analyzed. The analysis of the publications has established that age is a higher independent risk factor for lower extremity deep vein thrombosis. In elderly patients, the disease leads to a worse geriatric status; its subtle clinical presentation is characteristic due to polymorbidity.

ACUTE PAIN SYNDROME IN GERIATRIC PRACTICE: DIAGNOSIS, CAUSES, CARE
Abstract
The paper considers the anatomy and physiology of the nociceptive sensory system in the context of age-related changes that determine the clinical features of acute pain syndrome. It analyzes problems in the diagnosis of acute pain, systematizes and generalizes its causes, and proposes approaches when rendering care for elderly patients.

FRACTURE PREVENTION BY AUGMENTATION OF THE PROXIMAL FEMUR IN ELDERLY PATIENTS
Abstract
The paper considers whether proximal femur fractures may be prevented by prophylactic bone augmentation with original implants in elderly patients with different diseases causing bone dystrophic changes and pathological fractures. The bed tests have indicated that in this case the stress in critical points increases by 11.6-12.1%; the strength of a bone-implant system in low-energy trauma rises by 23-93%.

POSSIBILITIES FOR VITAMIN PREVENTION OF COGNITIVE IMPAIRMENTS IN THE ELDERLY
Abstract
Elderly and senile people in Russia suffer chronic micronutrient deficiencies. In the context of evidence-based medicine, the authors have analyzed whether there is an association between vitamin status and cognitive impairments (CI) in the elderly. To maintain optimal levels of vitamins using the Alfavit 50+ vitaminmineral complex is a necessary condition for the successful prevention and treatment of CI in elderly patients.

POTENTIAL ANTI-AGING PROPERTIES OF SAFFRON (Crocus sativus L.)
Abstract
The paper describes the properties of saffron (Crocus sativus L.) that may be considered as a potential anti-aging phytoprotective agent for metabolic syndrome (MS). Addition of anti-aging agents to basic therapy for MS is pathogenetically sound. Saffron as a potential anti-aging agent is shown to be able to affect body weight, lipid profile, and sexual function and, having moderate anorectic properties, may act as an aphrodisiac. Since saffron contains natural hormones, such as phytosterols, it may promote neurohumoral system stabilization, manifesting itself as optimization of lipid metabolic parameters and its related increase in sexual activity.

ACUTE CORONARY SYNDROME IN ELDERLY PEOPLE
Abstract
The paper discusses the specific features of acute coronary syndrome in people from old age groups, the impact of senile asthenia and preasthenia on the risk of poor outcomes, and the efficiency of incorporating metabolic cytoprotective drugs and D2/D3 receptor agonists into complex treatment for elderly people with acute coronary syndrome.

COMBINATION DRUG THERAPY IN PATIENTS WITH DIFFERENT TYPES OF IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME
Abstract
The paper gives the results of a prospective comparative study of different treatments (standard therapy and standard therapy in combination with a butyric acid preparation) in patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The study has demonstrated that the use of butyric acid in combination with standard therapy enhances the efficiency of therapy for pain syndrome and allows diarrhea control in patients with IBS.

COMPREHENSIVE PREVENTION OF DELIRIUM IN OLD AGE GROUP PATIENTS WITH INOPERABLE FEMORAL NECK FRACTURE
Abstract
One of the major problems in modern geriatrics is falling syndrome that frequently results in the patients long-term forced lying position, which in turn favors the development of delirium that occurs in 50% of patients with acute femoral neck fracture and in 20-30% during postoperative hospitalization. The hazard of delirium as a geriatric syndrome is the lower control of a patient over his behavior, progressive chronic cognitive impairments, and increased dependence upon others, which is highly undesirable during his care at home or elderly and disabled people homes.

DIFFERENTIAL-DIAGNOSTIC CASE OF DESTRUCTION OF THE KIDNEY AND PHLEGMON OF RETROPERITONEAL SPACE WITH TUMORAL DEFEAT A T THE CLINICAL PICTURE OF PERITONITIS
Abstract
Phlegmon of the retroperitoneal fat is its acute pyoinflammatory process that does not tend to delimit from intact tissues. The Department of Urology, Krasnoyarsk Interdistrict Clinical Hospital Four, annually encounters as many as 3 cases of retroperitoneal phlegmon. The clinical symptoms of retroperitoneal fat empyemas vary, which determines diagnostic difficulties. The paper describes a case of a senile patient with kidney destruction and retroperitoneal phlegmon with tumor involvement in the clinical picture of peritonitis.

DIFFUSE TOXIC GOITER: GERIATRIC ASPECTS
Abstract
The paper analyzes a case of diffuse toxic goiter (DTG) in an old age patient. It shows the specific features of cardiovascular disorders in elderly patients with thyrotoxicosis and sets forth clinical approaches to the differential diagnosis of thyrotoxic cardiac disorders and coronary heart diseases. The clinical status of the patient with DTG, laboratory and instrumental findings, and their changes during thyrostatic therapy and surgery are given.

ACUTE CARDIAC RHYTHM AND CONDUCTION DISTURBANCES IN PEOPLE FROM OLD AGE GROUPS
Abstract
The specific features of cardiac rhythm and conduction disturbances were identified in people from old age groups. The main areas of antiarrhythmic therapy for these conditions in elderly patients and a risk of adding some antiarrhythmic drugs were considered.

A VARIANT OF SAMPLING THE GASTRIC CONTENTS
Abstract
A device for sampling the gastric contents is functionally built in the vacuum contour “esphagogastroduodenoscope-electric suction unit’ and fixed at the connector tip of the endoscope. Aspirate movement is possible into 2 directions: into a vacuum pump container or into an aspirate sampling container.

CHANGES IN THE VASCULAR BED IN CHRONIC HEPATITIS AND LIVER CIRRHOSIS OF VIRAL ETIOLOGY
Abstract
Chronic diffuse viral liver diseases are characterized by common carotid artery remodeling with the decreased elasticity and increased stiffness of the vascular wall. More significant structural and functional changes are found in patients with chronic viral hepatitis.

MARKERS OF ENDOTHELIAL DYSFUNCTION: DIAGNOSTIC AND PROGNOSTIC VALUE IN CROHN’S DISEASE
Abstract
Patients with Crohn’s disease (CD) have been found to have endothelial dysfunction that is characterized by increases in the level of serum vascular endothelial factor (VEF) and in that of plasma desquamated endotheliocytes (DEC). The levels of VEF and DEC may act as criteria for the severity of CD and as signs of its poor course.
