Atopic dermatitis: psychosomatic aspects
Abstract
The paper considers the presumed mechanisms of the etiology and pathogenesis of a common skin disease, such as atopic dermatitis (AD), from the point of view of psychosomatic theories and models in modern medicine. It analyzes the literature data suggesting that the peptidergic and immune systems are actively involved in the development of key symptoms of the disease. The systems of monoamine neurotransmitters (dopamine, noradrenaline, and serotonin) participating in the development and functioning of all mental processes (emotions, thinking, perception, etc.) were found to also play an important role in the pathogenesis of AD. There are examples of successfully using drugs from the groups of neuroleptics, antidepressants, tranquilizers in AT.

The effects of bioregulatory drugs on inflammation markers and quality of life in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease concurrent with coronary heart disease
Abstract
The paper presents the results of investigating the efficacy of bioregulatory drugs in the combination treatment of patients with varying severity of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) concurrent with coronary heart disease (CHD). Estimation of inflammation markers in sputum, bronchial lavages, and serum, such as interleukin (IL)-8, tumor necrosis factor-а, interferon-y, IL-10, and C-reactive protein before and after treatment revealed the good anti-inflammatory effect of the bioregulatory drugs. Their incorporation into conventional treatment regimens for COPD and CHD can enhance the efficiency of treatment and improve quality of life in patients.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease concurrent with hypertension upon exposure to industrial aerosols
Abstract
Hypertension in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is 2.4-2.8 times more often detected in patients (in 34.3-61.7% of cases) than in the general population. Current X-ray techniques for the diagnosis of occupational lung diseases could improve its quality.

Predictors of recurrent ischemic stroke
Abstract
The authors have investigated the correlations between clinical, biochemical, metabolic, vascular inflammatory, and molecular genetic parameters and the development of recurrent ischemic stroke; a prognostic model for determining the probability of its occurrence has been constructed.

Height in children who are treated with dialysis and undergo kidney transplantion
Abstract
The paper shows height trends in 118 children who are treated with dialysis and have undergone kidney transplantation. At the start of renal replacement treatment, the height standard deviation scores (SDS) in the patients were -1.16±1.74 with a need for growth hormone therapy in 28%.

Successful combined treatment for hypertensive leg ulcers (Martorell’s ulcers)
Abstract
The paper describes a case of development of hypertensive leg ulcers (Martorell’s ulcers) in a male patient who has been suffering from essential hypertension for many years. Wound healing could be achieved after selecting antihypertensive therapy and performing a stepwise dermatoplasty. The paper provides a brief review of the literature.

Morphological features of the lower uterine segment in patients with placenta previa
Abstract
The paper gives the morphological evaluation of the lower uterine segment during physiological pregnancy and in the presence of placenta previa. Structural changes in this uterine segment in the presence of placenta previa should be considered as a factor that increases the risk of postpartum hemorrhage.

Optimization of personalized therapy in patients with chronic heart failure
Abstract
Six-minute walk tests showed that the incorporation of ethylmethylhydroxypyridine malate (100 mg/day intravenously) into the treatment regimen for chronic heart failure (CHF) allowed a significantly (p=0.04) greater number (33.3%) of patients to have a lower functional class of CHF (17.8% of those receiving the standard treatment regimen).

Monitoring of the antifungal susceptibility of clinical Candida spp. isolates
Abstract
The basic tendencies in the etiological pattern of infections caused by Candida spp. were studied. There is evidence confirming the leading position of C. albicans representatives in the etiology of candidiasis, including those in the structure of genital candidiasis lesions. The studied Candida spp. strains were found to be highly resistant to azole antifungals, by maintaining their susceptibility to nystatin.

Results of assessing some aspects of professional activities of physicians in municipal polyclinics
Abstract
Some aspects of professional activities in polyclinic physicians in the healthcare reform period were investigated. A sociological survey was conducted using a questionnaire consisting of several conceptual domains: respondents’ sociodemographic characteristics; evaluation of production factors and various aspects of physicians’ professional activities; and estimation of satisfaction of physicians with their work.
