BONE MINERAL DENSITY IN DESOMORPHINE ADDICTS

Sokollna I., Basin E., Medvedev Y.

Abstract

Bone mineral density (BMD) was determined by dual-energy X-ray bone densitometry in 36 patients with toxic phosphorus osteonecrosis of the facial skeleton. There was a significant excess of the mean BMD values in the lumber vertebrae and femoral neck. Analysis revealed a weak positive relationship between the increase in LI-IV BMD and the spread of a pathological process to the facial bones (r = 0.374; p < 0.05) and the history of addiction (r = 0.372; p < 0.05).
