SUICIDAL BEHAVIOUR OF THE POPULATION IN THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION AND REPUBLIC OF BELARUS: DYNAMICS FOR 30 YEARS

Abstract

During the period of 1990-2013 the Russian Federation and Republic of Belarus were among the countries with high level of suicides - more than 20 cases per 100,000 of population. The peak of the suicide rates in Russia has been registered in 1992, when the suicide rate accounted for 46.1 cases per 100,000 of population, and in Belarus in 1996 (35.8 cases per 100,000 of population). During the period 1995 - 2005 the suicide rates in both countries have not reached the numbers lower than 30 cases per 100,000 of population.
