THE COURSE OF GASTROESOPHAGEAL REFLUX DISEASE ACCORDING TO THE RETROSPECTIVE 5-YEAR FOLLOW-UP

Abstract

The article discusses the current problems of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and the potentials for its diagnostics at the present stage. The results of a retrospective 5-year follow-up of course of GERD in patients referred to a Perm Specialized Gastroenterological Center. The features of clinical manifestations, data for 24-hour esophageal pH monitoring and endoscopic examination of the esophagus in the study group patients, and concomitant diseases of the digestive system are discussed. The examination revealed comorbidity of GERD with gastroduodenal pathology and pathology of biliary system. Relapse of GERD most often occurs against the background of worsening of gastroduodenal pathology and pathology of biliary system; in some cases, the diagnosis of GERD was not confirmed either endoscopically or by 24-hour pH monitoring of the esophagus and stomach.
