Abstract

The article highlights theoretical approaches to the interpretation of institutional innovation as deviant behavior. Its definition and characteristics as a positive type of deviant behavior in the system of actions of agents of change are clarified.A taxonomy of institutional innovation types is constructed based on the following criteria: intentionality, the scale of institutional changes provoked by institutional innovation, the degree of divergence of innovations with the institutional context in which they are carried out, the results the innovator wants to achieve, the types of institutions that the behavior of the institutional innovator is aimed at changing, and the subject composition of deviant behavior.Based on the results obtained, it is concluded that it is necessary to form an independent research program for the study of institutional innovation. The results obtained in the article may be of interest to the scientific community and academic staff of higher education interested in studying institutional innovation in a broad sense and as a type of deviant behavior, in particular.
